Chapter 1379: Adjusting the Plan

Back to Chapter List
Across Amun's various forms, his single-piece spectacles, manifesting in different shapes, simultaneously emitted a pure radiance. This radiance was stolen from the depths of the divine war ruins, originating from the ancient Sun God's "Eternal Day" effect—capable of purifying impurities and aberrations, and awakening the spirits of the sleeping. The beings bestowed this gift upon Caine. Combined with the authority granted by the "Apprentice" domain, which enables manipulation of seal strength, it proved sufficient to shatter the state of eternal slumber. In an instant, both the Antigonus spiritual imprint and the will of the "Fusheng Xuanhuang Tianzun" fully awakened within Caine, their intense, vast, cruel, and bloodthirsty essence swirling like an invisible storm within his mind. At the same time, within the unique essence of the "Fool" still partially embracing him, the powerful will of the "Fusheng Xuanhuang Tianzun"—a terrifying creature that had slumbered in darkness for thousands of years—suddenly opened its eyes. At this moment, the previous chaos and disarray surged once again, yet Kline remained calm, calmly employing the backup plan and his "grafting" ability to guide Antigonus's spiritual imprint toward the "Divine Sovereign" will within the "Fool's" uniqueness, reuniting the two forces that had clashed for over a thousand years. On the other side, Kline actively balanced the portion of "Divine Sovereign" will embedded in his extraordinary nature, using his self-awareness and anchors drawn from the followers of the "Fool" and the "Sea God," just as he had done when separating the "Mysterious Servant's" figure. If nothing went wrong, Kline would likely achieve equilibrium on both sides, fully integrate the "Fool's" uniqueness, and advance into the final stage of the ritual. Yet, given that he was now surrounded by the Ammonians, how could anything go smoothly? Some of the Amon strengthened the seals of the "Trenzost Brass Book" and the "Wishing Lamp," countering the limitations imposed by the former's rules. When certain Amon bestowed the "Eternal Day" upon Caine, a few others remained locked onto him, achieving a form of "theft." They sought to steal Caine's clarity of thought. One after another, the Amon failed, yet several ultimately succeeded—each successfully stealing Caine's clarity of mind for the next two seconds. Caine's thoughts instantly blurred, losing the stability of the Antigonus spiritual imprint, the dual wills of the "Fu Sheng Xuan Huang Tian Zun," and the anchoring influence from his followers, which then began to violently erode, influence, and contaminate one another. Everything became profoundly chaotic, and the sense of disorder seemed irreversible. Caine's body, in turn, began to crumble, transforming into translucent, distorted worms, and extending further, more slick and eerie tendrils. At that moment, the rules inscribed on the "Trenzost Copper Scroll" were erased and rewritten: "Silence is mandated here!" "Mutual attacks are forbidden here!" Immediately following these two rules, the familiar provisions reappeared: "The following rules are invalid." After the seal was strengthened, the "Trenzost Copper Scroll" seemed to enter a new cycle, and the influence exerted by the "Lamp God" became quite limited. Klein's consciousness quickly regained clarity, yet the state within him had become entirely chaotic and out of control. This left him unable to discern the various effects or find a new equilibrium. In other words, he would continue rushing forward on this path of disarray until he transformed into a monster. With scarcely any time for thought, Klein, relying on instinct and experience, made the decision to activate his final contingency plan. He instantly abandoned any effort to restore his internal condition, no longer dwelling on that matter. Moreover, Klein caused the "mysterious servant" to transform spontaneously into a writhing vortex, carrying the spiritual imprint of Chalatou and directing it toward the core, where it fully merged. He wanted to complicate matters even further! However, Amun's duplicates would not allow him to make any such attempts—aside from the portion of Amun engaged in countering the "Lamp of Wishes" and the "Trenzost Yellow Book," the rest began once again to "steal," relentlessly disrupting Klein's thoughts until they ultimately collapsed. The Amun dressed as a postal courier succeeded, yet what it "stole" was not Klein's clarity, but a drop of fresh, living blood. This blood immediately seeped into the courier's palms. Subsequently, a deep crimson hue spread across the courier's eyes, and its abdomen swelled with an unprecedented speed, beginning to pulsate. It seemed to be pregnant! What it had "stolen" was the "Primordial Moon"—the blood blessed by the "Fallen Mother Goddess." After克莱恩 no longer devoted most of his awareness to maintaining the balance of the Antigonus spiritual imprint, the resurgence of the "Fusheng Xuanhuang Tianzun" consciousness, and the anchoring process, he no longer had to passively endure as before, and could now make a certain response to Amun's "theft." Using the technique of "grafting," he altered Amun's stolen targets—redirecting them into the interior of the Source Fortress, into piles of miscellaneous items, and specifically onto that drop of blood blessed by the "Primordial Moon"—a gift from the "Wizard King" Karalamun. Undoubtedly, there existed a certain connection among Amun's manifestations, none of which could possibly reach a Sequence 0 status. Thus, when the postal Amun was contaminated by that blood, the other Amuns experienced varying degrees of disarray—some developed distended abdomens, others had their eyes tinged with crimson, and still others carried invisible infants, circling in place. As a result, all the other "thefts" inevitably failed. Klein seized the opportunity, leveraging the fleeting clarity that could not be sustained much longer, and summoned the power of "The Source Citadel," casting a shadowing veil over the entire ancient palace. Once again, it was hidden from sight. Then, he ignored the Antigonus spiritual imprint within him, the Characturus spiritual imprint, and the beginning of the merging of the two aspects of the "Fu Sheng Xuan Huang Tian Zun" consciousness, and had the distant duplicate—still standing, not yet collapsing, with a blank expression—extend its hand toward the host body. The duplicate's fingers swiftly closed, and its wrist quickly twisted. Since Klein's self-awareness offered no resistance and even actively cooperated, the duplicate, with the aid of "The Source Citadel," succeeded in several attempts to steal the host's self-awareness, destiny, anchor, and most of its identity. What remained with it in the host body was only the identity tied to "The Fool." At the same time, he "stole" the identity, fate, and spiritual imprint of that ancestral figure from the Antigonid lineage—something that only succeeded several times thanks to his own conscious alignment. As the river of shimmering waves, branching into countless tributaries, came into view, the face of Klein's duplicate twisted and flowed, transforming into a synthesis of Germain Spaulo's features and Klein Moretti's essence. He became the original self—yet one devoid of extraordinary traits! Of course, his self-awareness and anchor continued to resist the spiritual imprint of the ancestral Antigonid figure, though this resistance was undoubtedly far more manageable than before. Having already adapted to the Antigonid identity, he swiftly found a new equilibrium, delaying and stretching out the unruly fate. Though inevitable, this provided a crucial window of time for subsequent operations. On the other side, at the original locus of Caine’s body, what remained were the unique essence of "The Fool," all the extraordinary traits originating from "The Veil," the extraordinary traits inherited from Zarathustra, a small number of additional extraordinary traits that Caine had consumed and assimilated from other sources, the revived will of "Fu Sheng Xuan Huang Tian Zun," the residual imprints of Zarathustra’s spirit, and the identity of "The Fool." Once Caine’s self-awareness, Antigonus’s spiritual imprints, and the multitude of anchors were severed, Zarathustra’s fragmented spiritual imprints were swiftly overwhelmed and eroded by the emergent, unifying will of the revived "Fu Sheng Xuan Huang Tian Zun." The very next moment, Caine’s "body" suddenly went silent. His physical collapse ceased; he lowered his head, no longer extending the slick, eerie tentacles around him, and remained still—so quiet that it seemed as though his soul had vanished. In this stillness, silence proved more terrifying than chaos. The motionless figure appeared to be nurturing an utterly monstrous entity. Klein didn't attend to this side; instead, he swiftly linked and "integrated" his own essence with the portion of the "Prime Body" onto the gray mist. Then, he shifted his focus and locked onto Antigonus, seated on the massive stone throne. This former half-"Fool" had not received Aid from Amun and remained in a state of eternal slumber. Klein extended his right hand once more, "stealing" from Antigonus one share each of the exceptional traits from Sequence 9 through Sequence 1. Although he now bore Antigonus's identity and fate, this act of "stealing" remained difficult, with failure inevitably recurring. At this moment, outside the "Mysterious Realm" generated by the "Source Citadel," Amun regained consciousness from the initial chaos. They either raised their hands to adjust their glasses, fading the crimson in their eyes, or lowered their heads to gaze at their stomachs, gently touching them. A second later, the protruding stomachs split open, revealing one after another a series of infants, each faintly tinged with crimson. These infants did not cry nor show any deformities; each smoothly reached out from the void, retrieving a single crystal lens and placing it upon their right eye. The number of Amons increased. He transformed each of the infants born into a manifestation of himself, to prevent any contamination from the "original moon" from disrupting His own essence. At this moment, both the "Mother Goddess of the Earth" and the "God of Steam and Machinery" secured modest advantages on their respective battlefields, enabling them to intervene in the affairs within the palace. For a time, some Amons became plants, bearing fruit and returning to the earth, while others evolved into knowledge, information, and texts, inscribed into the imagined books. Nevertheless, a portion of Amons successfully evaded the influence of the two true deities—either by means of "teleportation," exploiting loopholes, or by deceiving the established rules. They continued strengthening the seals of the "Wishing Lamp" and the "Trenzalore Bronze Book," while simultaneously opening doors across Klein's "Weird Realm." Meanwhile, the angels observed changes in the Celestial Realm, yet their gaze could not penetrate the natural barrier of the "Great Earth Mother" nor the civilizational tapestry of the "God of Steam and Machinery," rendering them utterly unable to perceive what unfolded within. Consequently, even if they wished to exert influence, they were powerless. Within the "Weird Realm" crafted by "The Source Citadel," Klein, after repeated failures, finally succeeded in stealing from Antigonus one exceptional trait from each sequence from 9 to 1, and had successfully assimilated those traits! — The latter, due to the Law of Aggregation of Exceptional Properties, has drawn in numerous exceptional beings over the course of history who have traveled along the same path. In transforming them into secret counterparts, it has also absorbed their exceptional properties. Thus, within Antigonus, a substantial amount of "Seer" pathway exceptional properties remain, including one of "Miracle-Weaver." Those dark spots of light swiftly merged into Caine's body and became one with him. Since he now is Antigonus, and these exceptional properties were already assimilated by Antigonus, his fate of uncontrolled destiny did not accelerate but continued at the same pace as before. As a result, Caine once again became a Sequence 1 "Mysterious Servant"—a "Mysterious Servant" who has consumed the elixir and whose fate points toward an uncontrolled ending. At this very moment, his original "essence" raised its head, its eyes now entirely dark. Simply being gazed at like that, Klein's thoughts instantly slowed, his body grew cold, and he found himself unable to muster any resistance. The powerful will he so intimately knew began to rise gradually, attempting to influence the "Fortress of Origins." The "Master of Mysteries" had preliminarily revived within Klein's "essence." The " Fool" had become a truly restored, great presence—aligning with the Tarot community's expectations, yet contradicting established historical records. Before his thoughts further stalled, Klein proactively cooperated with Amen, dissolving the "Mystic Realm" and establishing seamless communication between its interior and the outside world. He had successfully manipulated history as he had originally envisioned, though he still lacked a clear plan for the final resolution. His last contingency, activated at a critical moment in response to evolving circumstances, was this: to embrace the singular nature of the "Fool" and thereby ascend to become the true "Fool." This outcome, he reasoned, would not be any worse than the situation he faced just now.
